Should You Move From Blogger To WordPress?

Posted by keithstiene | February 10, 2010 .

It’s quickly become apparent in the online marketing world that blogging is here to stay.No matter if you are teaching internet marketing, or how to scrapbook, everyone seems to have a blog. Which is why i’m sure that you have considered starting one yourself.Though if you’re like many others who are new to the world of blogging, you may be asking yourself, “which platform should I use?”

There are a number of different blogging platform options available, so it’s easy to be confused as to which is the best.If you were just wanting to share your journey in journal style then most of them will work, but if you’re going for a more professional blog than you need to consider your options carefully.

In the online marketing arena, your blog is your home on the internet. It will serve as the central hub of activity for all of your marketing efforts, and you will likely have a lot of traffic going to it.Therefore it’s important to choose wisely when picking a blogging platform. While you may be thinking about going for a free option such as Blogger, it is really in your interest to go with a hosted WordPress blog instead.

Blogger is a wonderful, free platform and has come a long way from where it began. It now offers bloggers much more user friendly tools and has a larger selection of templates to choose from. It’s also boasts a very simple interface that most beginners will find easy to understand. Though once you really start to use it, you will quickly begin to notice its limitations. For instance, you don’t actually own your site. If Google (who owns Blogger) decides one day that they don’t like your blog, they can shut you down without even a warning causing you to lose everything. Not to mention the fact that you have a much smaller list of apps in comparison to WordPress’ collection of plugins.

That is why, in my opinion and in the opinion of many others, it is in your best interest to start of on the right foot by using a hosed WordPress site. This way you have complete control of everything and you never have to worry about someone taking it away from you. Plus you’ll get to choose from literally hundreds of templates and plugins to help make your blog the best one yet. Not to mention, it will save you the hassle of moving from Blogger to WordPress in the future!
