BlogCatalog

Friday 6 June 2008 @ 6:27 pm

This is from an email dated May 31, 2008 so it’s a few days old. Are you familiar with such websites as MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog. These are two great sites loosely in my opinion categorized as social networking sites for getting website traffic to your blogs.

Well the news that I received is that BlogCatalog just got a facelift. The owners who took over BlogCatalog a year and a half ago focused on adding features. They have finally finished these updates.

The new features include:
* A new homepage
*New navigation
*New tabs in groups, account settings, dashboard, and user profiles
*Updated blog listing pages and much, much more.

If you are not a member of BlogCatalog simply go to http://www.blogcatalog.com and create an account and then join me as a contact at http://www.blogcatalog.com/user/kstien1959.

Free 125 Cards

Tuesday 27 May 2008 @ 2:20 pm

Recently I have been promoting the idea of using Entrecard as a way to get a great deal of traffic to your blog. Entrecard has just made things even better by allowing people to list and advertise and earn credits from more than just one blog. But this post isn’t even about these great improvements to Entrecard. Rather, it’s about a great website called Free 125 Cards at http://www.free125cards.com.

Entrecard and many other blog related sites like your ad to be 125×125 pixels. Until now you had to pay someone to design your Entrecard banner or go with a very simple and unimpressive background provided by the site. The reason that Free 125 Cards is so great is that you can create 125×125 pixel cards for social media sites such as Entrecard. Other websites are now accepting this 125 x 125 pixel format such as those being used by Project Wonderful.

It’s very simple to use Free 125 Cards. You simply go to their gallery and pick out the background that you would like to use and then after you have chosen the background you click on a button that takes you to a page to personalize the text. You have your choice of several fonts and sizes of text and you can enter each line of text individually and place it where you want it on the background. I must say that I am very impressed with this tool.

Entrecard

Friday 16 May 2008 @ 9:45 pm

What you may ask is Entrecard? Entrecard is a free advertising system which people like you and me use to advertise on other blogs .

The ad is in the form of a graphical banner, 125×125. With your banner on different sites and people clicking that banner to visit your site , you can attract some decent traffic for your site for free.

So, how does it work? Whenever an Entrecard member visits your site and clicks on the drop button on the Entrecard widget present on your site , you earn 1 credit . When you click on the drop button of someone else’s Entrecard, they earn credit and so do you. So you earn credits by dropping on other peoples Entrecard and by receiving drops from other Entrecard users . You can then use those credits to advertise on other blogs . The credit requirement can be anywhere from 2 entrecard credits to over 4000 entrecard credits for one day advertising on other blogs . There is no limit on the number of drops you can receive from Entrecard users each day but you can drop a maximum of 300 entrecards each day. As long as you have earned enough credits there is also no limit on the number of advertisements you can purchase each day.

If you want to start getting more visitors to your blog visit and sign up for Entrecard today and place their widget on your blog.

Use Feedburner to publicize your blog

Friday 7 March 2008 @ 3:08 pm

Let me tell you about Feedburner and how you can use it to publicize your blog.

If you’ve been involved in blogging for any amount of time and have not registered yourself with Feedburner.com then you are doing yourself and the blogging world a big disservice.

Feedburner was down for awhile until upgrades were made, and they also were acquired by Google which makes them an even more important part of your blogging arsenal.

Feedburner can add a great deal of functionality to your blogs through the following:

You can use Feedburner to publicize your feed and start attracting subscribers. There are several ways to do this. Make it easy to subscribe by doing the following:

* Chickletize your web site. Encourage people to subscribe to your feed by posting a friendly graphic in an easy-to-find location.
* Why confuse would-be subscribers by offering the full menu of RSS and Atom flavors? Consolidate by serving up just one SmartFeed, digestible from any destination.
* Pleased with your circulation stats? Promote them using FeedCount
* For the XML literate, consider using the Awareness API to share your subscriber stats with directories and listings.

You can also use Feedburner to cross promote if you have more than one blog.

* BuzzBoost helps you cross-promote your content by repurposing your feed as go-anywhere HTML.
* If you author some very moving headlines! Promote your content with Headline Animator.

There are many paid plans that allow you to set up email subscriptions to your blog posts. Feedburner does this for free. See the subscription box in the right hand sidebar of Blog Smart Resources? Enter your email there and you will get an email copy of every post.

Feedburner also allows you to analyze your feeds, optimize your feeds and monetize them. With all of these ways in which to use Feedburner to publicize your blog I would suggest looking into using them today.

My CC Blog

Wednesday 5 March 2008 @ 7:51 pm

I just found a new blog host that uses the Wordpress blog platform and pays you money for promoting the site. But the greatest thing about My CC Blog is that every blog is optimized to be noticed by both Google and blog search engine Technorati. It is set up to be SEO optimized.

I don’t have a lot more to say here except to give you access to two links:

The first is my referral link to My CC Blog. It is http://myccblog.com/member/?rid=924

The second is the link to my new blog Keith’s Blog of Blogs at http://keithstieneke.myccblog.com.

I haven’t done any configuration to my new blog as of yet or even made a post to it, but I plan on doing that very soon.

Monday 18 February 2008 @ 7:25 pm

I’ve found a great new website traffic tool that for the time being is absolutely free although soon it will retail for $47. The name for this piece of software is Comment Sniper.

Comment Sniper gives you a way to build targeted, valuable, strong and lasting traffic to your website at no cost. It does this by allowing you to tap into the first mover advantage of blog comment posting. It helps you to find the most popular and influential blogs in your industry and load them into Comment Sniper for 24/7 monitoring of new posts. As an additional feature if you have a mobile phone you can configure this program with your mobile phone number for optional SMS monitoring. Notifications are by immediate desktop and/or SMS to your mobile phone the second a new post is made in any of the blogs that you are monitoring.

Because you are alerted especially if you have a mobile phone to take advantage of the SMS option you can be alerted moments after the new post is made so that you can comment. Your comment should be genuinely of value to the article being discussed. Readers will visit your website more often if you take the blog article and add value to it with your comments.

Since influential blogs related to your niche industry make new posts all the time, posts that may be read by thousands of people in the months to come. You only have one chance to be the first to comment on that post and ride that unique wave.

Yaro Starak, Blog Traffic and Social Marketing

Friday 11 January 2008 @ 10:40 pm

I was just getting ready to write a report on how some new social networking websites can help you to earn money and to build your business when I got sidetracked reading about social networking and social marketing. However, in the process of reading about social marketing at a blog titled Entrepreneur’s Journey, specifically an article entitled 3 Social Marketing Tips You Can Implement Today - The particular blog post was about a new video and service by StomperNet.

I decided to investigate the author of the blog. The particular blog belongs to Yaro Starak, a young entrepreneur from Australia. He presently blogs about internet marketing, small business, entrepreneurship and self development at the previously mentioned www.entrepreneurs-journey.com and also www.smallbusinessbranding.com.

In doing research about Yaro I also found another blog that he publishes titled the Blog Traffic School Prelaunch Blog that has a subscribe form for the Blog Traffic Tips Newsletter which I highly recommend. I just started getting the newsletter today and I must say that I am already impressed. There are several helpful tips for getting traffic to your blog both on Yaro’s blog and in the newsletter. I encourage you to visit his blogs and subscribe to his newsletter.

56 Ideas For Getting Traffic To Your Blog

Thursday 2 August 2007 @ 5:48 am

Seth Godin is an icon among people who have been blogging for some time. When he talks about blogging and web promotion people listen. When he writes about those same subjects people read. He is probably best known online for being the force behind Squidoo.

I recently did a Google search titled traffic to your blog and found several interesting sites and a lot of good advice much of which I will be sharing here shortly. But what impressed me that high among the results that I found was a post by Seth Godin in his blog Seth Godin’s Blog that was titled How To Get Traffic For Your Blog. The blog post lists 56 ways to get traffic to your blog. Some of these are common sense, some are innovative and some are ideas that I don’t agree with.

Whatever Seth does, whether I agree with all of his methods, however manages to get him traffic as this post has a Google PR rank of 5 and it was easily found when doing the search that I did on Google. I would highly recommend reading this post for ideas on how to get traffic to your blog.
